USA Today Highlights Rock History with Elvis Recording "That's All Right" in 1954
July 05, 2013

Today marks the 59th anniversary of when Elvis recorded his first single inside Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. USA Today posted this video (above) highlighting today's milestones, opening with Elvis' legendary recording that changed the world.

On July 5, 1954, while attempting to record ballads with band members Scotty Moore and Bill Black, Elvis started singing Arthur Crudup's "That All Right." The trio immediately broke out in a jam session which Sun Record label owner Sam Phillips captured on tape. This would become Elvis first single "That's All Right" and the origins of rock 'n' roll as we know it today.
