Members of the Tupelo City Council have questions about where the money should come from for projects at two local attractions.
Councilmen Lynn Bryan and Markel Whittington persuaded a majority Tuesday night to hold off on committing money toward the 'Elvis project': $100,000 for improvements at the Elvis Presley Birthplace, and $150,000 for the planned Vietnam Veterans Wall and the mounting of a military jet at Veteran's Park.
Whittington said after the meeting he believes the money for these projects should come from the Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau, which would free up city money for other things. The City Council is expected to discuss the project funding at a meeting next week.
