Elvis fans can check out the king's handwriting in a new article featured in Parade Magazine. The article looks at the five-page letter Elvis wrote to President Richard Nixon on December 21, 1970. Fans can view this image and read the complete story by visitingParade.com.
The official photos from this rare occurrence have become the most requested in the history of the National Archives. Elvis wrote the letter on American Airlines stationary mid-flight to the White House, where he planned to hand-deliver the letter to the president.
"His arrival at the White House gates proved effective. A few hours later, he had a meeting with President Nixon, gifted him with a Colt .45 pistol," states Parade writer Vi-An Nguyen. "Nixon obliged, they had their photograph taken, and the next day Elvis returned to Graceland."
