“Viva Las Vegas” is turning 50, & in typical Vegas fashion, the flashy formulaic movie that turned the spotlight on then-sleepy Las Vegas will be celebrated.

"Viva Las Vegas" with Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret premiered May 20, 1964.

The film will be screened at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17th at the Clark County Library, located at 1401 East Flamingo Road.

The program is co-sponsored by UNLV’s film department and is free. For more information, call 702-507-3459 or visit www.lvccld.org.

Sean Clark, a local screenwriter, producer & film professor, will discuss the movie’s importance during the free presentation.
