MEMPHIS, TN -(WMC-TV) – An official inside Memphis Mayor A C Wharton's office confirms the Hard Rock Cafe, now located on Beale Street and Rufus Thomas Boulevard, is moving two blocks north to Beale and Second Streets.

The mayor would not outright confirm that the international restaurant that boasts live music, music memorabilia, and a casual dining experience plans to move into the Lansky building at 126 Beale Street.

Beale business owners say Lansky's "Clothier to the King" brand is a perfect match for the music-themed restaurant, a move that will facilitate the city's plan to extend Beale Street to the river.

Elvis Presley Fans of Nashville, President Caroline Pratt would like to add the following information:
"The Hard Rock Cafe, move will be beneficial and grand! Parking will be closer and much better in the parking garage. The particular section of Beal Street and second is indeed safer. "
"The Lansky building became Lansky Brothers Clothing in the late 1940's. Elvis loved the clothing at Lansky, and Bernard Lansky became known as "The Clothier to The King." In the early 1980's Lansky Brothers Clothing moved to The Peabody Hotel. In July 1997 Elvis Presley Enterprises' opened up the Restaurant, Elvis Presley's Memphis; in the former Lansky building. Elvis Presley's Memphis Restaurant, closed in September 2003. A historical marker in front of the former Lansky Brother's was unveiled during Elvis Week 2011. Elvis fans will be very happy and pleased to once again enjoy a dinning experience in the former Lansky building."

From Wikipedia regarding Benard Lansky and Elvis Presley:
"At the start of 1952, Bernard noticed a young man who would continuously walk past his window and look inside, but never actually came inside to buy anything. Eventually, Bernard went to invite the man in. It was seventeen-year-old Elvis Presley, who worked at the local Loew's Theatre. According to Bernard, Elvis told him that he was going to buy him out when he got enough money. Lansky responded: "Elvis, don't buy me, buy from me!" Once Elvis became an international superstar, Lansky Brothers still provided much of his attire, including his outfit for his first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1956. "I put Elvis in his first suit, and I put him in his last," Lansky recalls."
