Graceland Displays New Artifacts at The Beatles Story's "Elvis and Us" Exhibit
June 19, 2013
"Elvis and Us" - the exhibit that explores the influence of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll on The Beatles, is back by popular demand and features several new artifacts from the vaults of Graceland's Archives. LiverpoolEcho.co.uk recently toured the new exhibit with Graceland's Archives Director Angie Marchese to learn more about Elvis' connection to the Beatles.
Among the new Elvis artifacts on display are the white wool gabardine jump-suit Elvis wore at his 1969 record-breaking return to Las Vegas and his 1965 Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar with which he played 57 shows in 28 days. The exhibit will remain open at the The Beatles Story in Liverpool through October of 2014. Want a sneak peek? Check out photos of the new artifacts featured on Elvis' Instagram.
The influence Elvis Presley had over the young Beatles and the one and only meeting between the two world icons is carefully explored through over 70 artifacts and a series of video interviews, shot exclusively for the exhibition. The interviews feature Priscilla Presley, The Beatles '60s press officer Tony Barrow, NME journalist Chris Hutchins, and members of The Quarrymen - the band that evolved into The Beatles.
