Gordon Stoker of The Jordanaires Passes Away
March 28, 2013

Gordon Stoker, a member of The Jordanaires, passed away on Wednesday after a lengthy illness. EPE sends their thoughts and prayers to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Gordon Stoker joined The Jordainaires in 1950 and had been a member ever since. The Jordanaires were Elvis' primary male back-up vocal group from 1956 to the end of the 1960s. They worked with Elvis in the recording studio, on stage and in his movies. In addition to working with Elvis, they provided backing vocals for artists such as Patsy Cline, Ricky Nelson, Jim Reeves, Kenny Rogers, George Jones and many others. The Jordanaires were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1998, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000-2001.

Recently as part of the Legacy Project, Gordon shared his memories of when the Jordanaires first met Elvis and recording in the studio with him.
