Elvis' original floor length Aloha cape, which was designed by Bill Belew and Gene Doucette for Elvis' legendary "Aloha from Hawaii" concert special is up for auction through Julian's Auction House in Los Angeles. Cape has an eagle design across the back composed of prong-set studs in red, blue and gold on a white ground. The cape is lined in blue satin. Cape measures: 63 1/2 inches from collar to hem; 62 inches from cuff to cuff. Weight, approximately 12 1/2 pounds. The cape was too heavy for Elvis to wear, so he asked for a 'shorter' version. The floor length cape remained in the Graceland Archives, until Elvis Presley Enterprises sold the long cape in the year 1995 with other items for an auction. The cape is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Greg Howell of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Graceland.
A white leather prototype belt signed on the back by Elvis Presley. The belt was designed by Bill Belew, who sent this belt to Elvis with this message written on back: "Elvis this is sample of eagles I'll use. Ok with you." Elvis wrote in response "Ok Elvis." The belt, with six gold tone bald eagles with American flag emblems, was for Presley's costume for the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert. The belt was returned to Belew to complete the final costume. The belt is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Joe Esposito.
