December 3rd, 1968 - 45 years ago tonight Elvis' 1968 TV Special aired on the NBC Television Network. The special which is commonly known as the "68 Comeback Special" was filmed in Burbank, California during June 1968.
The '68 Special was directed by Steve Binder and was sponsored by The Singer Sewing Machine Company. The special included Elvis singing his classic songs in a stunning Black Leather outfit, fantastic Gospel numbers, and Elvis sat in a small circle which today is known as an unplugged jam session. Along side Elvis was Charlie Hodge, Scotty Moore, D.J Fontana, Alan Fortas, and Lance LeGault. The special closed with Elvis wearing a gorgeous White suit while powerfully singing If I Can Dream! Elvis was said to have been in the best physical shape of his life. The 68's Special was the highest-rated television special of the year!
