The Zippin Pippin roller coaster at Bay Beach located in Green Bay, WI hit a milestone Sunday: Its millionth rider!
Ashley Jolley from Oswego was surprised by Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt as her tickets were taken. Workers threw confetti, and presented Jolley with a gift basket full of Zippin Pippin memorabilia, a plaque, and a certificate.
The Zippin Pippin, which was Elvis's favorite roller coaster in Memphis, had faced controversy during its planning and building phases. It cost more than $4 million to rebuild. It debuted in 2011, and has since exceeded the predicted average ridership of 200.000 riders a year.
